Okay.   So “Catholic Apologist” may be a stretch.

But how can one not deny that Mr. Shoebat, who terrorized for the Palestine Liberation Organization in his youth, has done a bang-up job (a better job than some current clerics, mind you!) of defending the One True Faith in this piece from his blog?

Shoebat proudly calls himself a Christian convert.  It might be more accurate to call him one who has a sincere disdain for a Muslim belief he pledged to kill for, once upon a time.  Upon further thought, there was a time when the terms “devout Christian” and “despise Islam” were all balled up into one person.

Yes, that person was a Crusader.  A Catholic, who banded with brothers, stood stalwart against the Islamic hoardes.  Shoebat rips a hole in the long-held Evangelical notion that the Catholic Church is the “whore of Babylon”.  Shoebat pointedly queries, “Perhaps these things can aid in answering my question, which I’ve asked more than once and no one seems to have answered: During my two-decade walk in my Holy Spirit filled evangelical faith; Jesus said: “I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. Well, in two thousand years, who was this church? Was the church lost from the time the authors of the New Testament departed until the time the holy Martin Luther showed up?”

Arab Christians are being slaughtered.  TODAY.  And who is standing up for them?  Shoebat snarls, “Today, neither Catholic nor Protestant is doing much to save Christians slaughtered in Muslim countries. Name me the organization that rescues Christians today? There are NONE.”

Yup.  This post has quickly turned from Catholic propping to one big-ass mea culpa.
